We’re excited to announce our spring cooking classes, and hope you’ll be joining us! To register, please send an e-mail to blue_willow_pantry@yahoo.com. Seats are limited, so please contact us soon! All cooking classes are held in the Fellowship Hall at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, from 9:00-3:00.

March 10, 2012 ~ Pasta Workshop ~ $49
Spend the day perfecting the art of pasta making with us! If you’ve always wanted to learn to make fresh pasta, or would like to perfect your technique, this class is for you! We’ll demonstrate making pasta by hand, and with pasta machines. Yes, we’re making ravioli and tortellini! Hoping our special guest can join us for lunch! This hands-on class will feature of variety of pastas, a very nice lunch, and recipes for all!

May 12, 2012 ~ Ladies Play Date! ~ $49
Come play with us in the kitchen! We’re celebrating Mother’s Day!

This hands-on class will feature special guests who will share their amazing talents of decorating cakes, cookies and cupcakes! Learn to make the batters and dough from scratch, work with icings and fondants, create an assortment of sweet treats! and decorate with sprinkles and other embellishments to Oh, yes, lunch and recipes also included!
Yes, a summer cooking class will also be scheduled, along with the Kids in the Kitchen Series, too!

Snowy January & February Forecast? Cooking Classes Possibly Delayed!

The Farmer’s Almanac, wooly worm colors, and persimmons indicate we may be having heavy snows in late January and mid-February! After reviewing the forecasts once again, we’ve decided to wait to confirm our two winter/spring cooking class dates.

We’re definitely hosting a pasta class this spring, and a brand new class offering will soon be announced!

2011 Cooking Classes

To our amazing and talents cooks! Throughout this year, we have watched you roll, knead, stir, whisk, mix, bake, decorate…and the list goes on and on! Pasta making, bread baking, cheese making, crepes, cookies, candies, and so much more!

Most of all, we’ve watched the fellowship and friendships being formed as we come together in the kitchen for the day!

We appreciate everything you do to make the cooking classes so successful and so much fun! Thank you so much!

Homemade Cheese

Here’s the Farmhouse Cheddar cheese we made this winter using the recipe in Rikki Carrol’s book. Note: there’s a great cheese press pattern in this book, too! The photo was taken right before the red cheese wax was was applied. Although the recipe indicated the cheese would be ready to eat in four weeks, we waited seven weeks and the results were unbelievable! We’ve made the 30-Minute Mozzarella, ricotta, even the mascapone, but the Farmhouse Cheddar was the first hard cheese.
